30. FC-AFC Bayou Teche Eye On The Ball (Slider), LM, Lauren Hays

Blind: Excellent Job!

Flyer: drove past the area, established a small tight hunt before retrieving the bird

LR: Perfect mark


 


29. FC-AFC Coolwater’s Knockout (Punch), LM, Alexandra Washburn

Blind: lined all the way to the peninsula where the dog require one check-up whistles. Amazing work!

Flyer: Smacked it!

LR: fought all the factors like a champ and drilled the mark!


 


28. AFC Shadowpines Chabasco (Storm), LM, Bob Byrum

Blind: good team work for a job well done.

Flyer: put up a average size hunt before retrieving the bird.

LR: good mark

 


27. Good Idea’s Texas Scratch (Rosie), LF, Ken Neil

Blind: did a nice job

Flyer: handled to retrieve the bird

LR: traveled to the mark gradually fading to the left and went in the mark behind the holding blind & hunted out the mark clean.

 


26. FC-AFC Windy City’s Bent Tail (Hook), LM, Charlie Hines

Blind: had few whistles upfront and several at the end to complete the retrieve

Flyer: Nice mark

LR: split the difference between the gun stations went out of sight and then went out of sight for a long while before re-appearing with the bird.

Blind:  Jake displayed great teamwork for a good blind.

Flyer: rapid retrieve

LR: clean accurate retrieve




 


24. FC-AFC Sagon Black Hawk Shot In The Dark (Ruger), LM, Linda Noga

Blind: Several casts to get dog into the water and then smooth to the end.

Flyer: drove past the area and established a hunt deep before making his way back to retrieve the bird.

LR: Nice mark.




 


23. AFC Credit Rivers Uncle Plug (Plug), LM, Rick Van Bergen

Blind: Took every cast like a gentlemen for a job well done.

Flyer: Good mark!

LR: splint the difference between the guns disappeared and then a few seconds later re-appeared with the bird.


 


22. Holland Cliffs Tropical Storm (Joe), LM, Alvin Hatcher

Blind: Great teamwork!!

Flyer: Good Mark

LR: Straight to the bird fighting all the factors.





 


21. FC-AFC Hardscrabbles Powder My Buns (Pow), LM, Benjy Griffith

Blind: took multiple whistles to convince Pow to enter the water and then had a smooth finish with few whistles for a great recovery

Flyer: Smacked it!

LR: traveled to the mark went deep of the flyer station established a hunt, handler attempted to handle but then opted to pick up the dog and not complete the mark.


 


20. FC-AFC Ironweeds High Bird Shooter MH MNH (Shooter), LM, Paul Brown

Blind: Had a smooth start with several whistles at the end to hunt up the bird and complete the blind/

Flyer: went out and made a quick circle to the retrieve the bird quickly.

LR: Excellent mark


 


19. FC-AFC Star Spangled Girl II MH (Banner), LF, Alice Woodyard

Blind: had one whistle to get in the water, kept a nice tight line with few whistles to the completion for a job well done.

Flyer: Pinned it!

LR: established a hunt deep and right of the flyer station and handler blew the whistle to handle to the LR clean.


 


18. FC-AFC Tealcreek Patton’s Saber (Saber), LM, Chris Hatch

Blind: completed in very few whistles for a nice job!

Flyer: traveled to the mark and established a hunt behind the gun station before retrieving the bird.

LR: Straight as an arrow to retrieve the bird quickly.


 


15. FC AFC Son Of A Preacher Man (Billy Ray), LM, Duncan Christie

Blind: Beautiful work with very few whistles

Flyer: Straight to the bird.

LR: had a great initial line but faded left and came into the mark behind the holding blind to make a nice retrieve.


 


14. FC Dominator Boots She Worth It (Boots), LF, Hank Knoblauch

Blind: Completed

Flyer: Drilled it!

LR: Fantastic Mark!


 


13. AFC Un Petit Peu Canaille (Canaille), LF, F. Lee Jolley

Blind: lined all the way into the water continued to carry the precise line only requiring a single whistle at the end to hunt it up.

Flyer: Good Mark!

LR: cut the corner of the water and zero-ed in on the bird for a nice retrieve.


 


12. FC-AFC Sara’s Blue Streak (Blue), LM, Bill Goldstein

Blind: Had several whistles up front and a few more to complete the blind

Flyer: made a few small loops near the area to retrieve the bird.

LR: great mark!

 


11. FC-AFC Watermark’s Shadow Dancer (Dancer), LF, Charlie Hays

Blind: Great team work on this performance of the blind

Flyer: handled the dog to retriever the bird 

LR: broke left out of the gate and went into the mark behind the holding blind and turned immediately to the bird.


 


5. AFC Salty Paws Sealed With A Kiss (Zip), LF, Roy Morejon

Blind: had a quick whistle up front, and a few more whistle to complete the blind nicely.

Flyer: drove hard past the area of the flyer. Handler attempted to handle back to the bird but opted to pick up the bird.


 


10. FC-AFC Pattons Blazen Abby MH (Abby), LF, Dan Hurst

Blind:  They were a well oiled machine for an excellent job!
Flyer: Dog went into the area, established a hunt, which got wider and wider before coming up with the bird.
L Ret: Good Mark!


 


9. FC-AFC RSK’s Oohs And Aahs (Ozzie), LM, Bill Booker

Blind:Completed the blind
Flyer: Was a speedy retrieve
L Ret: Dog began off the line, bide right of the fall, almost on the same line as the blind, and handler handled clean to the long retired bird

 


8. FC-AFC B Bumble (Stinger), LM, Fred Kampo

Blind: "Stinger" was a perfect gentleman and took every cast for a nice blind
Flyer: Dog went out and drove past the area, established a hunt for several minutes before making way back to the bird
L Ret:  Had a good initial line, faded, in between the guns, made a quick recovery to retrieve the bird


 


Re-Run - 123. NAFC-FC Cody Cut A Lean Grade (Grady), LM, Chad Baker

#123 came to the line and made the mistake of retrieving the Flyer before he ran the blind.  #123 was not invited to retrieve the second bird. 

 


6. FC Valtor’s Hayseed Kid (Kid), LM, Breck Howard

Blind: 10 whistles, kept "Kid" straight and on line
Flyer: Excellent Mark!
L. Ret: Took good line - got to the middle of the basin and changed direction twice, then straightened out and retrieved the bird.

4. FC-AFC Tru’s Little Cruiser (Cruise), LM, Paula Elmes

Blind: Good Blind
Flyer: Quick loop short, then corrected out to the bird for the retrieve
L Ret: Great line low & straight to the guns, got the bird!



 


3. FC-AFC Lil Chin Music (Lil), LF, Charlene Koeth

Blind: 2 whistles to the bird, beautiful team work!
Flyer: Hunted a large area before locating the bird on the lip of a rim.
L Ret: Middle of the L rim, went out of sight for a short time and came up with the bird.


 


2. FC By Golden’s Pond’s Legacy (Pride), LF, Roy Morejon

Blind: Wonderful Blind, minimal whistles and took all casts, followed all directions. Nice Blind!
Flyer: Hunted in a large semi-circle
L. Ret: Took the low line, splittling the difference between the water and the flyer guns, came out behind the guns and got the bird!




 


1. FC-AFC Dottie Ray’s Ivy League (Ivy), LF, Andy Kahn

Blind: Smooth, and on line, Nice Blind!
Flyer: Covered entire flyer area, and came up with the bird
L Ret: Line was low, Right of water, angled across the basin, came in behind retired guns, worked back to the bird


 


124. Grindstone’s Lethal Weapon (Plick), LM, Mike Whorton

Blind: Dog had multiple casts into the water, however the dog never entered the water and drove back on land to retrieve the bird and complete the blind.
Flyer: Made one large loop over to retrieve the bird.
L Ret: Left the line traveling to the right of the fall area, the dog went out of sight for a period of time, only to return from the cover with the bird.

He will run in 6 dogs...

 


122. FC-AFC Bob And Ed’s Excellent Adventure (Chef), LM, Ed Krueger

Blind: Ed Kept "Chef" tight on line and played the blind conservatively
Flyer: Smacked it!
L Ret: Good Mark!


 


121. FC-AFC Hickory Stick Eliza (Lyza), LF, Sandi McCourt

Blind: One whistle til the end, the dog lined into the water, and carried the line all the way to the penninsula, and only required one whistle to check-up and hunt out the bird. A spectacular blind!
Flyer: Drove out hard, took a quick turn to the left and retrieved the bird
L. Retired: Picture Perfect Mark!


 


120. AFC Windy City’s Mighty Mouse (Mickey), LM, Charlie Hines

Blind: One whistle to get into the water and a quick whistle at the end for a beautiful blind.
Flyer: Pinned it!
L Ret: Came back and looked like he knew where he was going, ..."Mickey" was sent and drove hard left, he went out of sight behind the holding blind, and then worked his way back to the bird.




 


119. FC-AFC Trulines Walla Walla Sweet (Pink), LF, Mark Medford

Blind: Two whistles up front, carried a great line with few whistles to completion for a job well done.
Flyer: Nice Mark
L Ret: Drove hard left in between the guns, went out of sight and then rapidly appeared with the bird


 


118. FC-AFC Ragin Eye Of The Storm (Cane), LM, John Thomas

Blind: The dog had several whistles up front, but never entered the water until "Cane" drove past the island and had to be recalled back on the island to hunt up the bird in order to complete the blind.
Flyer: The bird was long and strong and landed in a new area. The dog established a large hunt where all of the other flyers have landed before he changed his pattern to come up with the bird.
L Ret: Cane had a great initial line traveling toward the fall area of the mark. He quickly went out of sight and seconds later reappeared with the bird for a great mark!



 


Conditions REPORT

The sun is still shining brightly, however the wind has settled and visibility on the Long Retired bird has greatly improved.

The Marshals have instructed everyone that we will continue to run dogs until at least 8:00 pm this evening. Every contestant with a # over 40 has been excused and will run tomorrow in the morning. There will be only one test dog running in the morning, to display any changes the new day may have brought the test. The test dog will run at 6:30 am Tuesday Morning. The competing dogs will begin promptly at 7am.


 


117. FC-AFC Wolf Creek CR Skeeter (Skeeter), LM, Robby Bickley

Blind: Stayed on line and "Skeeter" took every cast like a perfect gentleman
Flyer: Drove past the area and quickly turned around to make his way back to the bird
L Ret: Had a great initial line, got into the water, fought the wind and ended up way right of the bird, the handler blew the whistle to handle back to the bird to complete the retrieve




 


116. AFC Moonstones HaM-Maid Marian (Livvy), LF, Bill McKnight

Blind: The blind was smooth with few whistles
Flyer: Had a small tight area hunt
L Ret: Had a great line to the mark, got into the water and was swimming to the end, the handler chose to handle the dog to the long retired bird.


 


115. FC-AFC Citori’s Accept No Substitute (Brook), LF, Michael Moore

Blind: Very Nice!
Flyer: Stepped on it!
L Ret: Took the water on the way out, when brook exited the water she took a 90 to the left and went into the mark behind the holding blind, but worked it out well to complete the retrieve



 


114. FC-AFC Red Butte’s Tiger Lilly (Lilly), LF, Joseph Taylor

Blind: Past tree before she got into the water - lost sight of her at the end, many whistles to complete the blind.
Flyer: Established a large hunt before coming up with the bird
L. Ret: Out to the lower left, crossed over and came in right behind the guns until working her way to the bird.




 


113. FC-AFC Westwoods Iron Man (Gauge), LM, Bruce Ahlers

Blind: Had a few cast to get in the water. And then only a few whistles to complete the blind nicely.

Flyer: good mark

LR: drove deep and hard left in between the gun stations. Dog went out of sight and when reappeared Bruce handled the dog clean to  the bird.


 


112. AFC Gray’s Creek Skeeter Boo (Skeeter), LF, Jerald Wilks

Blind: Nice, accurate, and smooth

Flyer: drove out deep of the area and established a sizable hunt before retrieving a bird.

LR: Perfect mark.


 


111. AFC Mjolnir’s There And Back And Again (Shire), LM, Sharon Gierman

Blind: Sharon was having a difficult time pulling Shire over to the blind. She sent and had a quick whistle up front. With one cast Sharon convinced Shire that a blind was to be performed. They completed the blind nicely.

Flyer: small area hunt

LR: took off from the line and drove hard left, fought the factor to retrieve the bird clean.


 


109. NFC-AFC Candlewood’s Something Royal (Windy), LF, Ken Neil

Blind: was smooth as silk and Windy made it look easy

Flyer: Nice mark

LR: Windy had a great initial line. She faded slightly and went out of sight for a long while. When she reappeared she was hunting into the flyer and Ken opted to pick her up and not complete the retrieve.


 


108. AFC Rare Heir (Air), LM, Dennis Pugh

Blind: had a quick whistle up front  and then finished the blind acurratly with few whistles.

Flyer: drilled it!

LR: came off the line hard left toward the flyer station. Traveled deep and left of the holdiing blind but recovered and make a good retrieve.





 


107. FC-AFC Trumarc’s Costalotmore (Morey), LM, Mark Rosenblum

Blind: Picture perfect performance!

Flyer: Drove past the area, made two passes deep of area then came back to retrieve the bird

LR: took off from the line and beared left toward the flyer guns. Dog kept driving and went out of sight to then appear several seconds later with the Mallard in mouth. Nice Job!

Blind: Beautifully smooth blind
Flyer: Had a small, tight quick hunt
L. Ret: Had a good initial line, began to fade left, went deep and left of the holding blind, but recovered and hunted out the bird

 


105. High Peak Rebel Ridge’s Outlaw (Jesse Jane), LF, Sammie Thompson

Blind: 2 quick whistles up front -  to tree then jumped in the water at the end - several whistles at the end to complete the blind.
Flyer: Good Mark
L Ret: Dog pushed off hard to the left from the line, traveled up the hill in between the guns and out of sight and when the dog reappeared, the handler blew the whistle and picked up the dog.

 


104. FC-AFC Trumarc’s Hollandaise (Holland), LM, Edward Aycock

Blind: 1 whistle to get in the water, gave verbal back but could not see to know why - Problems at the end
Flyer: Excellent Flyer
L Ret: Took water and  to the Right deep toward the trees, .... got it!

 


103. Blind Lake’s Honky Tonk Gusto (Gus), LM, Jim Scarborough

Blind: Came out of water on the Right behind the bush from the line - he worked it out and retrieved the bird!
Flyer: Good Mark
L. Retired: Pick-Up

 


102. FC Keeno’s Gizmo (Gizmo), LM, Bruce Hall

Blind: Did a nice job!
Flyer: Big hunt, but found the bird!
Long Retired: Beautiful line to area of fall - had small hunt in the woods, a very nice job!

Blind: Excellent
Flyer: Smacked it!
L. Retired: Dog had to be picked up with out the bird

L. Ret: Nice initial line, kept between the gunners and the bird, Nice job!

 


Facts and Figures...

Just to keep you up to date, there have been eleven handles and eight pick-ups as this test continues to be challenging for the dog and handler teams.

 


99. FC-AFC Fish River’s Out Of The Park (Homer), LM, Joe Piland Jr

Blind: Exceptionally smooth blind.
Flyer: Smacked it!
L Ret: Dog pushed hard left off the mat, disappeared between the gun stations and when he reappeared the handler blew a quick whistle, and had a quick handle to the long retire.

 


98. FC-AFC Shadows Sweet Something (Sugar), LF, Mark Medford

11 minutes and 32 seconds to complete the test

Blind: "Sugar" came to the line with a workman like, team player attitude. She had a great initial line and took every cast mark requested of her for an excellent blind.
Flyer: The bird was shot very long from the guns, it took Sugar several large loops to complete the retrieve.
L. Retire: Ran hard and straight to the area of the bird, fighting all of the factors along the way, for a near-perfect retrieve!

97. AFC Patton’s Natural Born World Shaker (Luke), LM, Dave Opseth

 The dog was quite amped up to approach the line and would not heel when commanded to do so...

Blind: The handler gave multiple whistles and multiple casts to get the dog into the water, the dog refused and the handler chose to pick up the dog and not complete the test

 


96. FC-AFC Ace On The River III (Ace), LM, Peter Ketola

The dog was excited to come to the line and crept out very far, looking as if it was going to break....when the birds landed, the handler commanded the dog to heel in order to perform the blind...

Blind: Very smooth and accurate with few whistles up-front. Required several whistles at the end to hunt up the bird for completion.
Flyer: Stepped on it!!
L Ret: Dog took a great initial line, pushed hard left, even with the fire station, ...disappeared and when reappeared was hunting deep and left of the flyer, the handler blew the whistle and attempted to handle, but was unable to do so, and had to pick up the dog with out the bird.

 


95. Walensis’ Devil Made Me Do It (Newt), LM, Ken Steele

Blind: 6 whistles to enter the water, strong cross-wind was difficult to get good change in direction, but worked it out and completed the blind
Flyer: Was a quick retrieve
L Ret: Dog went out on a great initial line, handler lost sight of the dog, when the dog reappeared it was hunting between the guns and the handler attempted to handle, was unable to do so and opted to Pick Up the dog.

 


93. AFC Beaver La Bam (Beaver), LM, Bill Tidd

Completed the test in 11 minutes and 2 seconds

Blind: "Beaver" had a 4 whistle blind for an excellent retrieve!
Flyer: Front footed it!
L Ret: The dog left the mat with a good initial line, immediately gave way to the factors, got lost and went out of site, the handler attempted to handle...but was unable to do so, due to the visibility of the dog. Handler decided to Pick Up the dog with out completing the retrieve.

 


Conditions REPORT

The conditions have significantly changed the test. The wind is gusting out of the south moving south-west, which has produced a cross-wind factor to the test. The dogs are leaving the line pushing off of the terrain and the pond fading and sucking towards the flyers station and fading with the stiff wind where they are ending up in between the gun stations and getting lost.
The clouds have moved in and the sky is greatly overcast. The humidity has risen and become very sticky. This is causing the handlers much grief.

Good luck competitors because this is now a new test!

 


92. Pleasant River Sea Duck (Eider), LM, Anne Marshall

Blind: Had an exceptional blind
Flyer: The flyer went out deep, established a hunt and gradually worked his way back to retrieve the bird.
L. Ret: Dog had a good initial line, faded with the factors and ended up hunting short behind the flyer station, before the handler blew the whistle and handled the dog back to the long retired bird.

 


91. AFC Coolwater’s Hawkeye Legend (Legend), LM, Alexandra Washburn

Blind: The dog had a great initial line, only required a few whistles to get into the water and a few whistles to complete the blind, for a job well done.
Flyer: Was a great mark
Long Retired: Dog left the line, pushing hard left, mid-way to the long bird, took a hard right to correct his line and go into the mark at the area of the fall for a precision retrieve!!

 


90. FC-AFC Jet Black Bustin Thru The Brush MH (Jet), LM, Jim Powers

10 minutes and 38 seconds to complete the test

Blind:Was smooth like butter! And had very few whistles to complete!
Flyer: Had a very nice mark with a tiny area hunt
L Ret: Took a nice initial line, gently fading left just inches behind the holding blind to quickly correct, disappear and then reappear with the bird.

 


89. Atlastastar (Rinny), LF, Martha Blank

Blind: Handler kept a tight line with minimal whistles for a great job
Flyer: Was a great Mark!
L Ret: Dog went out bating to the left when she got just past the flyer station, made a hard left and the handler blew the whistle and handled the dog to the long retired bird

 


88. AFC Windy City’s Springtime (April), LF, Charlie Hines

Blind: Took 3 whistles to enter the water, she then only required 2 additional whistles to complete the blind.
Flyer: Make 2 quick loops to retrieve the bird
L Ret: Pushed off hard left, split the difference of the guns, established a hunt deep of the flyers station, and the handler blew the whistle attempted to handle and then opted to Pick Up the dog, without retrieving the long retired bird

 


87. FC Hunting Creek Classy Girl JH (Classy), LF, John Armstrong

Blind:lined into the water and carried original line all the way the the last  piece of land where he required only one more whistle to complete the retrieve.

Flyer: rapidly retrieved the bird.

LR: pushed off the line hard left but corrected his line half way out to the mark for a successfully mark


 


86. AFC-CFC-CAFC Upon The Wings Of An Answered Prayer (Ammo), LF, Bill Petrovish

10 minutes to complete the test

Blind: Required 4 whistles to enter the water, then 2 whistles to remain online and then 1 check-up whistle at the end for a nice blind.
Flyer: Dog ran out hard and fast past the area, but quickly turned and retrieved the bird
L Ret: The dog was released carrying a line at the gun station then made a quick right in front of the gun station, disappeared into the cover, and seconds later reappeared with the bird.

 


85. FC-AFC KPR’s Wet Willie (Willie), LM, Jim Pickering

Blind: Required 3 whistles to get into the water, had 2 additional whistles while swimming and 2 whistles at the end for a successful blind
Flyer: Was a good accurate mark.
L Ret: The dog left straight at the fall area, held his line like a champ, entering and exiting the water where he needed, for a perfect mark.

 


84. FC-AFC Landover Goldendaze Yukon (Yukon), LM, Chuck Schweikert

Blind: The dog required 2 whistles to enter the channel, carried that same line through the channel, where he would require only 1 more whistle to remain online. Had a couple whistles at the end instructing the dog to hunt up the bird and complete the retrieve.
Flyer: Was a good mark!
L. Ret: The dog pushed off hard left when he left the handlers side, the dog then ended up splitting the distance between the two guns and establishing a hunt close to the old fall, when the handler opted to blow the whistle and handle the dog to the long retired bird.

83. FC-AFC-CFC-CAFC Adams Acres Muddy Creek (Cree), LM, Jerry Younglove

Blind: The handler blew several whistles up front to convince the dog to get into the water. The dog refused to enter the water. Running around to the end and making the retrieve.

L Ret: The dog was released, pushing off the water, sucking to the flyer, entering the mark behind the holding blind and then hunted his way over and retrieved the bird.

Blind: One whistle to get into the water, 2 whistles to complete the blind for a good job
Flyer: Landed deep of the original area, the dog went out and put a sizable hunt before driving deep to where the bird landed to make the retrieve.
L. Ret: The dog was released and carried a perfect line at the bird, got in the water and continued to carry the line straight for a perfect mark!

Blind: “Pearl” required 3 whistles to enter the channel, carried a good line to the end, and then only required 1 whistle to complete the blind successfully
Flyer: Drove deep of the area, but quickly came back to retrieve the bird
L Ret: The dog was released to the line of the fall area, got in

Blind: Required 3 whistles to get into the water, and carried that line all the way to the end, where she required several whistles to hunt up the bird.
Flyer: Was an excellent mark
L Ret: Dog went out from the handler to the right, took the edge of the water and went out of sight for a period of time, appeared out of the pond driving to the tree line where she disappeared into the cover and then quickly reappeared with the bird.

Blind: 3 whistles to enter the channel water, and several whistles while in the water to maintain the tight line to the end of the blind.
Flyer: Dog had a nice mark
Long Ret: Dog took a great initial line, but then began to push off of the water and traveled to the left, the handler then chose to blow the whistle to handle the dog to the long retired bird.
