The 8th Series Water Blind with a Dry Sluice Test Description
The 8th Series remains on the Spangler Property
and begins at the top of the hill deep of the Middle Retired from Series
7. We are facing Southeast looking at
the mat from the 7th series. The wind is lightly blowing out of the
Northwest pushing the dogs out to sea.
The starting mat is 150 yards from the waters-edge where a gunner is hidden
from the starting mat. The Judges have placed our Dry Sluice Gunner standing out to the right of the Middle Retired gun station from the 7th Series. The
Dry Sluice is shooting into the pond toward the island near a decoy, this
sluice creates a ripple in the water left and out to sea of the line to the
blind. This is the first factor the dogs encounter. The dog must catch a corner
of water and then get on the first point. The contestants were instructed right of the pine tree on the first point. Then the dog must
re-enter the water and swim to another larger point. The Judges have placed a dozen Avery Full-Body Mallard decoys in the bend of the 2nd point. The dog must re-enter the water punch up the hillside toward
a goal post of two single pine trees. The Drake Mallard is placed in front of a
large brush pile situated below the mound from the 7th Series. This
is a very long blind measuring 435 yards. Good Luck To All!
